Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Steward / Agency Liaison to support data governance initiatives by coordinating with government entities and participating agencies to ensure the quality, accuracy, and completeness of organizational data assets.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with government or institutional data, strong stakeholder management skills, and a solid understanding of metadata standards, data quality, and documentation practices. This role serves as the primary point of contact between the organization and participating agencies, ensuring timely submission, validation, and maintenance of datasets.

Key Responsibilities

Agency Coordination

  • Act as the primary liaison between the organization and participating government agencies or institutional stakeholders.

  • Coordinate the collection, submission, and validation of datasets from multiple agencies.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Schedule and facilitate meetings, workshops, and follow-up sessions with participating agencies.

Data Stewardship

  • Guide agencies in completing metadata according to established standards and governance policies.

  • Review submitted datasets for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and compliance with data governance requirements.

  • Monitor data quality and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.

  • Follow up with agencies to obtain corrections, updates, and missing information.

Metadata & Documentation

  • Ensure metadata is complete, accurate, and aligned with organizational standards.

  • Maintain documentation related to datasets, metadata, data definitions, and governance procedures.

  • Prepare reports on data quality, submission status, and compliance metrics.

  • Maintain audit trails and version control for submitted datasets.

Data Governance Support

  • Support data governance initiatives by enforcing data standards and best practices.

  • Assist in implementing data quality improvement plans.

  • Monitor dataset lifecycle activities, including updates, revisions, and archival processes.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

Communication & Reporting

  • Provide regular progress updates to project managers and stakeholders.

  • Escalate data quality or submission issues when necessary.

  • Prepare status reports, dashboards, and documentation for management review.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise data governance frameworks.

  • Familiarity with metadata standards and data cataloging tools.

  • Experience working with government agencies, regulatory bodies, or public sector organizations.

  • Knowledge of data privacy, compliance, and information governance principles.
